How to dop opals using wax

Some time ago, I made a video that shows how I dop opals using cabbing wax.

A doping stick allows for easier handling of a stone which results in more precision and better symmetry in the finished gem. Doping sticks also give an additional level of safety.

Many lapidary artists prefer to use an alcohol lamp for doping opals because of lower heat. However, my personal preference is to use a wax candle as my heat source.
