Bright green dark opal, 1.68ct

Incredibly bright green opal with fantastic pattern opening like a fan.

I had an interesting experience cutting this opal what I would like to share. When I received this opal, it was partly rubbed (play of color exposed), and it looked as a fine stone, but nothing special. After more thorough inspection I realized, that I need to work off the sand and potch from what was at the time back of the opal, and voila! it opened incredible pattern and way brighter color than the side what was showing first.
